Airline Safety Information with Indian Flavor

(Audrey) Like all other airlines in the world, Indian-owned airlines have a safety card that describes what you should do in the case of an emergency. Also like all other airlines, this safety card features little figures that show you what to do. I’d never stopped to think about how obviously these depictions are culturally conditioned. In America, the cards usually feature a modestly dressed woman, guy in a suit, at least one non-white, and a suburban looking kid. On Indigo Air, on a flight from Cochin to Bombay, this was the guy featured on my safety card—
